Wolfsburg boss to utilise January window
New VfL Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs is set to make changes to his current squad during the winter transfer window.
Marco Russ could be among those leaving the club, as the defender has yet to play a Bundesliga match this season.
The player fell out of favour with former Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath and has not returned to the team under their caretaker boss Lorenz-Gunter Kostner. “I count the days until the Frankfurt deal is done,” Russ told Bild.
Emanuel Pogatetz could also return to his old club Hannover 96. The Austrian was transferred to Wolfsburg during the summer, but has not played for the Wolves since match day eight.
Hannover president Martin Kind said: “He could be on the list. You’d have to ask Mirko Slomka.”
Wolfsburg have been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Sebastian Jung. The right back is contracted to his current club until 2014 contract, but, despite claiming positive talks have been held earlier this season, he has yet to prolong his contract.
An exit clause in his contract could see Jung, a Germany squad member in the Netherlands friendly in November, leave the club for €2.5 million at the end of this season.
However, Jung called the rumours “speculation” and kicker reports both Frankfurt and Jung are confident of prolonging the defender's stay at Frankfurt.
