Busquets: We will focus on Falcao

Sergio Busquets admits controlling Radamel Falcao will be a major factor in helping Barcelona overcome second-placed Atletico Madrid when they clash at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

• Preview: Barcelona v Atletico

Falcao, 26, has scored 16 goals in 14 games this La Liga campaign, meaning the two most prolific strikers in the league face off as Lionel Messi looks to add to his 23 league goals.

Although Busquets acknowledges that Atletico's emphatic start to the season can be attributed to a well-rounded team, stopping Falcao will be at the forefront of Barcelona's plan as they look to extend their lead at the top.

"Falcao is a lethal player for them," Busquets said. "We have to play our own game, but we have to give a little more to stop him.

"We have two games remaining before the winter break - our intention is to get six points and spend our holidays in a good mood."

Atletico have dropped just seven points this season, with all of them coming in away fixtures.

But they can go within three points of Barcelona with a win and Busquets believes this will be one of the most significant clashes between the two sides given Atletico's rise under coach Diego Simeone.

"They have become a rival this season because with nearly half the season gone, they are near the top of the table," he said. "Atletico finished very well last season and have continued that form this term. With Simeone in charge, they have become a complete team that makes you work hard for a win."
