Jets worried about goals, not finances

Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond says he's more worried about guiding his players out of their form rut rather than the financial woes of the A-League club.

The Australian Tax Office has applied to have both the Jets and NRL side Newcastle Knights wound up due to unpaid debts.

The Nathan Tinkler-led Hunter Sports Group have assured concerned parties the unpaid debts will be resolved soon.

The off-field drama has been an unwanted distraction for the Jets, whose 3-0 loss to Perth Glory on Friday night was their fourth defeat from their past five games.

Van Egmond admits the barren run has robbed his team of confidence, but said he and the player group weren't concerned with the off-field uncertainty.

"We had a conversation, very briefly, on Thursday (about it). It was just about the fact of we can't control anything outside of the football, regardless of what goes on," van Egmond said.

"We're very confident that everything will be fine."

The Jets have failed to score a goal in their past three games, and will need to regain their mojo in time for Saturday night's clash with Sydney FC at Hunter Stadium.

"We're finding it very difficult to win games from the fact we're conceding self-inflicted goals," van Egmond said.

"And on the flip-side, we're not putting the ball into the back of the net when we're creating chances.

"When one goes in, I think you'll find we'll score quite a few.

"But right at this moment, it's like they're very tentative. They're looking to score, but is it 100 per cent looking to score? That's just from a lack of confidence."
