Diouf signs new Leeds deal

El-Hadji Diouf has committed to a new 18-month contract with Leeds United.

Diouf, 31, joined Leeds on a non-contract basis in August before penning a short-term deal until January the following month.

Having impressed in his time at the club, he has now agreed a deal that will tie him to the club until the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

"We're delighted he's agreed everything and hopefully he'll enjoy the next 18 months with us," manager Neil Warnock told the club's official website. "Obviously it's a massive boost for everyone to know we're going to have him around, and this is what we've wanted to do.

"He's a match-winning player, and there aren't many of them around. He's a player who can change a game and I'm delighted we've been able to keep him."

Warnock had memorably engaged in a public spat with Diouf in January 2011 in which he likened the forward to a "sewer rat", but the Leeds manager has been pleased with the former Senegal international's attitude during his time at Elland Road.

He added: "He's also fitted in really well, and he's been great with the lads."
