Police drop 'racist gesture' case

The Metropolitan Police has said it will take no further action against a man who was arrested after he was pictured making an alleged racist gesture during the Capital One Cup tie between Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 28-year-old man, sitting amongst Chelsea supporters, was pictured making a monkey gesture during match, which the London club won 5-4 after extra time.

Chelsea had banned him from Stamford Bridge pending the outcome of the investigation.

On Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said it and the Crown Prosecution Service had decided not to take any further action ''following an investigation which included taking witness statements from those around him in the crowd and viewing CCTV footage''.
