Andrea Ranocchia says Inter Milan team-mate Antonio Cassano is "a phenomenon" and prefers the striker to Napoli's Edinson Cavani.
The defender, 24, was speaking to Corriere dello Sport on a variety of subjects but his obvious admiration for Cassano stood out as he returned from a two-match ban for the 2-1 home win on Sunday evening.
"We really missed him because he is a phenomenon," he said. "There are few around with his technique and vision, he can invent anything at any moment. I know what he has done in his career and can say he is capable of doing even better. Who would I choose between Cavani and Cassano? Cassano, of course."
While the Nerazzurri have struggled since ending the unbeaten run of league leaders Juventus, the win over Napoli cemented them in second place but Ranocchia was in no mood to settle for a return to European football's elite competition and has his sights firmly set on silverware.
"I would not be content with a Champions League spot as I want the Scudetto," he added. "My mentality is to always win and finish in front of everyone else. Now that we're up there it is only right that we target the top."
