Giroud relishing Arsenal challenge

Olivier Giroud says he is falling in love with English football after finally finding his feet at Arsenal.

• Sagna: I'm happy at Arsenal
• Frustrated Wenger in Walcott plea
• Blog: Ro-sick note to heal Gunners?

After initially struggling following his summer move from Montpellier, Giroud is beginning to show why the Gunners paid £12 million for his services.

The goals have started to flow for last season's Ligue 1 top scorer and the 26-year-old striker has earned the right to a chant in his honour from Arsenal's fans - a development that has certainly not escaped him. "Imagine, you're at Anfield and you hear a chant for you to the tune of The Beatles' 'Hey Jude'. It gave me goosebumps. It makes you even more determined to fight," Giroud told L'Equipe.

"I love this kind of football, which is full of chances… You want to show that you can be successful."

The passionate support is not the only thing to have struck a chord with the Frenchman since his arrival from the other side of the Channel, with Giroud revealing that he relishes playing in the shadow of Arsenal greats such as Cliff Bastin, Ian Wright and Thierry Henry.

"In the corridors or at the training ground, you feel the weight of history," Giroud said. "I feel the pressure of getting results, not the unhealthy weight of pressure created by the successes of my predecessors."

On manager and compatriot Arsene Wenger, he added: "The coach has brought the club into the modern era. He wants us to impose our style of play. He wants us to dominate, to have possession of the ball."
