Sneijder to avoid trouble over tweet

Inter Milan head coach Andrea Stramaccioni said that Wesley Sneijder revealing he would not be in the team for Thursday night's Europa League match against Neftci is "nothing serious".

Sneijder was not involved as Inter's young side drew 2-2 at home to the Azeri side with their path through the last 32 already assured before kick-off.

The Dutch midfielder has been under plenty of media scrutiny about his future with the Nerazzurri amid reports he has fallen out with the club over the offer of a new contract.

On Friday the Corriere Dello Sport reported that Sneijder's agent, Soren Lerby, will meet with Inter's management "for one final time" to try and resolve the issue over a new deal.

However, Stramaccioni said in his post-match press conference that Sniejder's tweet on team affairs - which is against club policy - will not be turned into a major disciplinary issue.

"He didn't disappoint me and it is nothing serious," he said. "There was a misunderstanding that we cleared up. I had already told him he would not be called up, but out of respect for the other players he wasn't supposed to reveal that yet."

"Let's say it was a semi-mistake but not that big a deal."

Another senior player left out of the match was veteran captain Javier Zanetti, who Stramaccioni joked had to be "locked in the training ground to stop him coming on to the pitch".
