Tottenham fan released from Rome hospital

A Tottenham Hotspur fan who was stabbed in Rome ahead of Spurs' Europa League match against Lazio two weeks ago has been released from hospital.

Ashley Mills was left fighting for his life after a group of Tottenham supporters were set upon by masked assailants in the Drunken Ship bar in one of the city's central squares.

He suffered a stab wound to the head and sustained a gash in the femoral artery of his right thigh.

But Mills said he would continue to go to away games once he had recovered, and that his enjoyment for the game had not diminished.

"I still love football," Mills said. "I'm still going to go to as many games as I can. I'll have to take some time off, because I'm a self-employed builder, so I'm not of use to anyone in this state. But it shouldn't be too long hopefully and I'll be back."

Mills was not keen to speak to the assembled media at San Camillo hospital about the attack itself - for which two Roma fans have since been arrested and banned from matches for five years each - and was instead focused on recovering as soon as possible.

"I don't really want to talk about it ... My leg is getting a lot better now and that's the main thing.

"It's not too bad. Once my hair grows back it will be all right."
