Ancelotti not concerned by cup exit

Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti remained buoyant despite his side's exit from the French Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday night at the hands of St Etienne.

• Blog: Ancelotti must not tinker

PSG were defeated on penalties after scores were locked at 0-0 at every major interval, with defender Thiago Silva's miss from the spot allowing Emerick Aubameyang to send the hosts through.

Ancelotti praised St Etienne, who sit just one point behind the Ligue 1 leaders, and remained positive about PSG's overall performance.

"I have nothing to say against the players," he said. "The team was good, the game was good, we had a good attitude, good style of play and were very good on defence and attack. We played well.

"They are disappointed. Tonight we played against a tough opponent. Our attitude was really good, I'm disappointed by the result but pleased by our performance.

"I think that after many games without cnosistency, tonight we played 120 minutes with consistency and in good control. Then obviously the result is not good but this performance gives us more confidence for the next game.

"We had the attitude and we kept the ball, we only lacked one goal. So the future is not a problem."
