Palermo rule out re-signing Pastore

Maurizio Zamparini has dismissed reports that Palermo could be set to re-sign Javier Pastore after the Argentinian has failed to impress with Paris Saint-Germain.

• Blog: Ancelotti must not tinker

The story gathered momentum in Italy over the weekend following another poor display from the player who left the Sicilian club in August 2011 at a cost of €43 million.

However, the Rosanero president moved quickly to deny there was any truth to the reports.

"I can say with certainty that he won't return to Palermo," he told Sky Italia. "It would be great if he did come back but it is impossible.

"He is currently finding some difficulties in Paris because there is Zlatan Ibrahimovic who puts everyone else in the shadows. Anyhow, we are only looking for new wide players for boss Gian Piero Gasperini during the January window."
