Cruyff questions PSG vision

Netherlands legend Johan Cruyff has criticised what he perceives to be short-term thinking at affluent side Paris Saint Germain.

• Blog: How's Zlat?

PSG have recently spent lavishly since they were taken over by Qatar Sports Investments last summer, with the likes of Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic being brought in for a total cost of around €62 million.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are top of Ligue 1 but have won only 50% of their league matches this season, despite the investment in personnel.

And former Barcelona attacker Cruyff has questioned the vision of the side, suggesting the future might be tough for them in the long-term.

He told Le Parisien: "It is always possible to buy a team, just like PSG did. But spending a lot of money is not in the club's interest, except in the short-term.

"With the big teams, like Ajax in the 1970s, [Arrigo] Sacchi's Milan or Barca, there was a lot of players born in the country or promoted from within the club. With this philosophy, we don't last two or three years, but eight or ten. That's the difference."
