Doumbia slams Anderlecht after Zulte loan

UEFA to probe Adriano behaviour

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano is to face disciplinary proceedings after UEFA confirmed an investigation is underway relating to his controversial Champions League goal against Nordsjaelland on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian striker scored when he latched on to a punt from midfielder Willan that was intended to return possession to the Danish side after they had knocked it out of play so one of their team could receive treatment for an injury.

Adriano's actions stunned the home side and several of his own team-mates, as well as serving to enrage the crowd. Shakhtar looked as if they would allow Nordsjaelland to score directly from the kick off until Adriano intervened again to urge them to play on as normal.

A UEFA statement read: "UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against FC Shakhtar Donetsk player Luiz Adriano following last night's UEFA Champions League group stage match against FC Nordsjflland in Copenhagen.

"Luiz Adriano faces charges for violation of the principles of conduct (Article 5, UEFA Disciplinary Regulations), and his case will be heard by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Tuesday 27 November.''

Article 5 of the European governing body's code dictates that: "Member associations, clubs, as well as their players, officials and members shall conduct themselves according to the principles of loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship.''

Adriano's goal levelled the match at 1-1 after Nordsjaelland had taken an early lead. The Ukrainians went on to complete a 5-2 victory and after the game their coach Mircea Lucescu apologised for the goal.

Shakhtar secured their place in the knock-out stages of the Champions League, with Adriano finishing the match with a hat-trick. Nordsjaelland, meanwhile, have just one point from their five Group E games and are out of European competition.
