Villa boss Lambert gets touchline ban

Paul Lambert has been handed a one-match touchline ban by the Football Association and fined £8,000 for his actions last weekend at the Etihad Stadium.

• Lambert: Bent must show his worth

The FA has confirmed the Aston Villa manager has been disciplined following comments he made about match officials, following Villa's 5-0 defeat against Manchester City last Saturday.

Lambert was highly critical of Jon Moss and assistant referee Adrian Holmes for a penalty awarded against his side at the Etihad Stadium.

He called the decision "ridiculous and woeful" and added "it was not a penalty in this life," during his post-match comments and also accused the officials of "not being strong."

He has accepted the charge and will sit in the stand for this weekend's Premier League meeting with Arsenal.

An FA statement read: "Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has admitted a breach of FA Rule E3.

"It relates to language and/or behaviour amounting to improper conduct following his side's game at Manchester City on 17 November 2012.

"Lambert accepted the standard penalty for the charge and will now serve a one-match touchline ban to commence with immediate effect. He has also been fined £8,000."
