Lazio president Claudio Lotito says Paul Gascoigne will attend Thursday's Europa League clash between the Italian side and another of his former clubs, Tottenham Hotspur, calling him "part of our history".
Reports had emerged that Gascoigne, now 45, would not be able to be present at the match at the Stadio Olimpico but Lotito confirmed the former England midfielder had accepted the invitation extended to him by Lazio, for whom he played between 1992 and 1995.
"I thought that it was an obligation of ours to remember a great champion," Lotito told Radio Lazio Style. "He is part of our history and impressed everyone whilst he was here with his determination, character and great play.
"Gascoigne is still in the hearts of many fans and I want to remind our younger supporters how much this club is prepared to represent this past and the values of the club. It has been very difficult, but I've finally got Gascoigne to come back. His affection for Lazio has never ceased."
Gascoigne joined Lazio from Spurs for £5.5 million in 1992. A deal had previously been agreed, only for the midfielder to suffer from a serious knee injury in the 1991 FA Cup final.
