United rest big guns for Galatasaray trip

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson could give some of his younger players a chance when they take on Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday.

United have already secured top spot in Group H with four victories from four games and travel to Turkey without rested big names including Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David De Gea and Robin van Persie.

Their 21-strong squad includes seven players who have yet to taste action in Europe's elite club competition, among them midfielders Nick Powell and Ryan Tunnicliffe, defender Marnick Vermijl and striker Joshua King.

Ferguson saw United surrender top spot in the Premier League at the weekend as they lost 1-0 to Norwich at Carrow Road while champions Manchester City thumped Aston Villa 5-0 at the Etihad.

Manchester United squad:

GK: Sam Johnstone, Anders Lindegaard

DF: Rafael, Alexander Buttner, Phil Jones, Tom Thorpe, Marnick Vermijl, Scott Wootton

MF: Michael Carrick, Davide Petrucci, Larnell Cole, Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Nick Powell, Ashley Young, Ryan Tunnicliffe

FW: Javier Hernandez, Joshua King, Danny Welbeck, Federico Macheda.
