Vialli: Juventus lack 'champion' strikers

Former Juventus and Chelsea star Gianluca Vialli has said the Serie A champions are having problems finding a successful combination up front.

As he looked ahead to the Champions League game between the two in Turin in his role as a Sky Italia pundit, Vialli was asked which of his two ex-clubs he would like to play for in their latest meeting.

The former striker, who scored more than 150 Serie A goals, said: "Juventus. As a striker, I think I could help.

"Juve's problem with strikers is that they are all the same level. None have proven to be a champion, and this explains [coach Antonio] Conte's constant rotation."

Reigning European champions Chelsea are level on points with Shakhtar Donetsk at the top of Group E, with Juventus just a point further back.

Vialli said the match would be pivotal, adding: "Shakhtar will qualify. Chelsea have more pressure."

And he had warm words for both the Blues and Juve, telling Tuttosport: "For me, it was an honor to wear the Juventus jersey. I tried to honour it with commitment and professionalism.

"Chelsea was a wonderful experience. It was quite strange to begin a relationship with a club in the role of player, moving to player-coach and then coach. But it happened with Chelsea, and in just four years."
