Di Matteo fighting to keep Lampard, Cole

Roberto Di Matteo claims he is doing "everything he can" to keep Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole at Chelsea.

• Chelsea confirm Falcao interest
• Terry to return in three weeks

Lampard and Cole have been mainstays of the Chelsea side since the title-winning days of Jose Mourinho, but both are in the final year of their contracts and are being linked with moves away.

England full-back Cole is a reported target for Paris Saint Germain, while midfielder Lampard has been linked with clubs in China and the United States.

Chelsea's long-term future will not involve the pair, but Di Matteo clearly feels they have plenty still to offer.

"They know I'd like them to stay," Di Matteo is quoted as saying in The Sun. "They're fantastic players who have always performed to a high level for us. I'm doing everything I can to keep them here.

"There is always speculation about Frank. There were rumours about him going to the MLS as well. But I'm not aware of him having any dialogue with anyone. I hope we offer him a new contract. But ultimately that's between the player and the club to agree.

"I'm not aware how the discussions are going but if there's a willingness from both sides, Frank will remain with us. He has been great at Chelsea for over a decade, so it would be nice for him to finish his career here.

"As for Ashley, I'm not aware he speaks French, so I'm not too sure he'll move to Paris!"
