Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has committed his future to the club, signing a new deal which ties him down until June 2015.
The French champions decided to make the move with Yanga-Mbiwa's original contract set to expire in June 2013.
It is thought that the deal will help increase the value of the France international, in his sixth year with Montpellier, should the club decide to sell him in the future.
"Montpellier are really pleased to announce the contract extension of captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa. The defender has chosen to extend his adventure with the club for two further years," said a statement published on the club's official website.
Lille had a €6 million offer for the defender turned down in 2011, while Arsenal and AC Milan were also believed to be interested in Yanga-Mbiwa last summer.
