Chelsea deal for Wallace 'almost certain'

The agent of Fluminense defender Wallace says he is expecting his client to complete a move to Chelsea.

Wallace, 18, has been strongly linked with the Blues recently, with reports suggesting the west London club have owned a 40% stake in the player since midfielder Deco went in the opposite direction two years ago.

It has been claimed this month that Chelsea are now on the verge of completing a £4.4 million move for the highly-rated player, with his agent Fernando Moraes confirming that a resolution has nearly been reached.

"There are very advanced negotiations with Chelsea and the signature is almost certain," Moraes told Italian radio station Centro Suono Sport.

Moraes also confirmed that, should the signing be clinched, Wallace will join up with his new team-mates at Stamford Bridge rather than be loaned out to another side to gain experience.

There had been reports that Roma could take the player on a temporary basis, to help his transition to European football, but Moraes said; "If Wallace goes to Chelsea, he will be playing there.

"I had contact with Roma and many other Italian clubs, but that was a long time ago. I rule out the possibility of a loan [from Chelsea to Roma]. If he joins Chelsea he will play for the Blues."
