Three charged in Spurs' Olympic spy claim

Three people have been charged over allegations that Tottenham spied on Olympic officials during their bid to take over the Olympic Stadium in London.

A complaint brought by West Ham and the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) alleged that sensitive information was illegally obtained.

The OPLC's chairwoman Baroness Ford had claimed last year that Tottenham had monitored all 14 of her board via private detectives. Spurs deny the claims.

Howard Hill, 58, from Stockport in Greater Manchester, has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation - one with Richard Michael Forrest, 30, and the other with Lee Stewart, 39.

They will all appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on November 28.

A deal had been struck for West Ham and Newham Council to use the stadium after the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games but that fell apart in October 2011.

West Ham beat Tottenham in their bid to become the preferred choice of the OPLC after this summer's festivities.
