Plenty of options in Wenger's Arsenal

Evra wants national title

France and Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra says it would be "a failure" should he end his career without winning a title with his national team.

Evra, 31, has travelled to three international tournaments with Les Bleus, but with little success. In Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup France finished bottom of their group, while at Euro 2012 they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Spain.

But now Evra is hoping to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil and go some way to making amends for past international failures.

He said: "I won almost everything possible with Manchester, it would be the biggest failure in my career if I don't win a title with France. And for the moment, I didn't. So the aim is to progress to Brazil."

Evra admits falling out with management figures within the international set-up has hindered his career, but his performance in France's 1-1 draw with world and European champions Spain recently showed what he and the side are capable of.

"I didn't appreciate not to play against Spain at the Euros," he said. "I had to avenge that. I asked the person in charge [Blanc] but sat on the bench with no answer.

There is more respect between Evra and new France boss Didier Deschamps who managed the defender during his spell with Monaco.

Evra said: "We have a long history together but I know he won't forgive me anything."
