Frimpong committed to Arsenal

Emmanuel Frimpong has rejected rumours that he could leave Arsenal on a permanent basis but has said he is hopeful of securing a loan deal in the short-term.

• Blog: Fans put through the mill

Frimpong, 20, was loaned to Wolverhampton Wanderers last season and made five league appearances for the club before suffering a serious knee injury.

He has since returned to training with Arsenal, but just two appearances in the League Cup have led to suggestions his future does not lie at Emirates Stadium.

However, the midfielder has said he is fully committed to the Gunners, although a temporary move could be in the offing with Wolves confirmed admirers and Ipswich also linked.

"Subject to rumours am not leaving afc I am positive of going on loan this week which am really excited about and I am fully committed to afc," Frimpong said on his Twitter account.

"And am not in my last year or looking to be sold just to clear matters thank you and going on loan to get games and cum back to arsenal."

On Tuesday, Wolves boss Stale Solbakken said he is ready to step up negotiations with Arsenal over the proposed loan of Frimpong.

"We have discussed him. Obviously he has a relationship with Wolverhampton, but it is also important that he is 100% fit when he comes here and is ready, so we don't lose a month," Solbakken said.

"I can't say that I know in detail (about his fitness) because he hasn't played that many games. I watched the (League Cup) game against Reading on DVD - that was a strange game. They were 4-0 down and he was substituted after 62 minutes (when it was 4-1).

"We are monitoring the situation - let's say that. But it is also about what we have got here. I don't want to underestimate them either. It is a balance. We are not panicking over the situation with Karl (Henry). We don't do that.

"As a manager you always want more but I am happy with the squad. If we want to bring someone in it is important that we bring in someone who has another type of quality. If we can take in someone who has something else from the players we have then we should consider it. Someone with different qualities is always good for competition."
