Under-pressure Sampdoria coach Ciro Ferrara has said he will not resign despite seeing his team slump to a seventh consecutive defeat.
After Sampdoria had lost 2-0 to Palermo on Sunday, a group of around 50 of the clubs Ultras supporters prevented the team bus from leaving Genoa's Christopher Columbus airport.
Fans who had gathered to the airport to protest about the form of the club - now in the relegation zone with nine points from 12 games - and staged a sit-in, denying the team bus space to leave and demanded a meeting with officials and players.
Police eventually intervened and the episode was resolved peacefully.
Ferrara told Sky Italia he had to find a way to arrest the slump, but said he would not be walking away.
"I take responsibility for this situation, and I am the one who must find the right key to solving it. Will I resign? No, it is not the right gesture to make," he told the broadcaster.
