Diego stars in Wolfsburg win

Diego netted a brace as Wolfsburg put their recent woes behind them to record a surprise 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen which eases their early fears of relegation.

The Wolves picked up their first home win of the Bundesliga season and brought Bayer Leverkusen's 11-game unbeaten streak to an end with victory at the VW-Arena.

Diego set Lorenz-Gunther Kostner's side on the way to victory with two goals in the first 16 minutes before Bas Dost settled matters before half-time.

A tired-looking Leverkusen improved to hold their own in the second half, grabbing a late consolation through Stefan Kiessling, but they lost for the first time in nearly two months and missed the chance to go third in the table.

Borussia Monchengladbach won a topsy-turvy 4-2 encounter with a spirited Greuther Furth side who played the majority of the game with just 10 men, and finished with only nine.

Bernd Nehrig gave the home team the lead from the penalty spot in the 10th minute, but Thomas Kleine was sent off two minutes later. Oscar Wendt levelled soon after, but Oscar Prib gave Furth the lead again just before half time.

Martin Stranzl and Patrick Hermann turned the game around in the 51st and 57th minutes. Milorad Pekovic also saw red in stoppage time with Thorben Marx completing the scoring for the Foals from the penalty spot.

Hannover won a spectacular encounter at the Mercedes-Benz Arena against hosts Stuttgart 4-2 in a game which included three penalties.

Stuttgart looked like they were heading for victory at half-time as they led through a Christian Gentner goal and a Vedad Ibisevic penalty. Mirko Slomka's men turned things around in the second 45 minutes, though, with Artur Sobiech bringing them back into the game before Jan Schlaudraff levelled from the spot.

Two goals in five minutes from Mohammed Abdellaoue, one coming from the penalty spot, then sealed the win for the Reds over their Europa League rivals.
