Oscar: We can play 'Samba style'

Oscar believes Chelsea are capable of playing football with the same eye catching panache displayed by iconic Brazilian national teams of yesteryear.

• Preview: Chelsea v Liverpool
• Blog: Torres not the first

Oscar, who has made a big impact since his £25 million arrival from Internacional last summer, added to his reputation with a stunning goal in the dramatic Champions League win against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night and claims Chelsea are on course to produce 'samba style' football.

"Of course I like playing for a team that attacks like this, I'm Brazilian so this is a style I like," he told reporters at Stamford Bridge. "It makes me happy to be at a club that wants to play the type of football that I enjoy playing. This is very important to me.

"Naturally, it is taking me some time to adapt to English football and a different environment. Compared to football in Brazil, there has been a lot for me to get used to, but I am happy with the team and living in London. It is a marvellous place to live.

"I am pleased with everything so far. I am getting used to it with every game I play and feel like my relationship with my team-mates is improving. Every time I play with Juan (Mata) and Eden (Hazard), it feels like we understand each other more. Hopefully there is more to come."

Oscar was buzzing after what he described as special goal against Shakhtar, with his long range effort being ranked among the best in his career. "I have not scored many goals from that distance," he added. "I can't remember scoring for that far out, so this is why I say it was a beautiful goal."

Meanwhile, Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill admits his side were starting to feel the pressure after a dip in form both at home and in the Champions League, as he claims the win against Shakhtar has the potential to kick-start their season.

"We never know when we're beaten," he told Chelsea's official website. "The win against Shakhtar eases the pressure on us a little bit, and that's what we needed to do. They are a top team, so it was a massive three points for us as we look forward to the Liverpool game on Sunday."

Di Matteo must decide whether to bring skipper John Terry back into his line-up for the visit of Brendan Rodgers' Reds, after he completed his four-game ban for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.
