Bayern paired with neighbours Augsburg
Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich travel to Bavarian neighbours Augsburg in the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal, while cup holders Borussia Dortmund host fellow top-flight side Hannover.
The two remaining third division sides left in the competition, Kickers Offenbach and Karlsruhe, face top-flight opposition in Fortuna Dusseldorf and Freiburg respectively.
One second division side are guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals after Bochum were drawn against 1860 Munich.
The fixtures will take place on December 18/19 before German football takes a four-and-a-half-week winter break.
"We would have hoped for a home game to end the year with,'' Hannover boss Mirko Slomka said. "It will be our 53rd game of the calendar year and we want to try everything to create an upset at the defending champions.''
Hannover's director of sport Jorg Schmadtke added: "It is a huge challenge to play at the double winners and Dortmund are clearly favourites, but we want to take our chance there.''
In the other ties, Wolfsburg entertain Bayer Leverkusen, Mainz travel to Schalke and Stuttgart face second division side Cologne.
