Aguero and Nasri on the Great Wall

The Toe Poke

Resilient Reds please coach Kosmina

Adelaide United's gritty triumph against Brisbane Roar showed resilience previously lacking in the A-League club, coach John Kosmina says.

The Reds retained top spot on the table with their 1-0 away win on Sunday, a result largely built on stout defence after Dario Vidosic's third-minute goal.

"If you look at where the team were 12 months ago, we couldn't hold that kind of pressure, couldn't sustain the concentration and the focus and the discipline," Kosmina told reporters on Monday.

"Now we can.

"We're resilient - I have talked about resilience a lot over the 10 months since I have been here and they're really starting to show that."

After Vidosic's early strike against a Brisbane outfit coached by his father, Rado, Adelaide goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic produced a string of saves to secure the win.

Kosmina said Galekovic's sustained excellence in goal should attract the attention of national coach Holger Osieck.

"In terms of local goalkeepers, he (Galekovic) is definitely the best," Kosmina said.

"But when you're up against (Mark) Schwarzer it's a bit of a difficult choice I guess from Holger Osieck's point of view."

Galekovic said a Socceroos call-up was "out of my hands".

"I can only worry about what I do for Adelaide United week-in, week-out," he said on Monday.

"If you're performing then I think Holger will look at you ... if I keep performing then hopefully I have given myself a chance."
