Jenas extends Forest stay

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has extended his loan spell with Nottingham Forest for a further two months.

Jenas, 29, came through the ranks at Forest and in September returned to the City Ground on an initial month-long loan in a bid to kickstart a career that has stalled due to injury.

Manager Sean O'Driscoll has regularly emphasised the importance of players' attitudes and, with that in mind, had described the initial agreement as "a suck-it-and-see thing for both parties", but he is delighted with how the midfielder has performed.

O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "Every time he's come on he's made a difference - he's given us that little bit of Premier League class. He's experienced and he's keen to stay.

"It was an easy decision really and we'll monitor the situation as it goes on. This is obviously a squad game and we want ours to be as strong as possible - he'll be a useful addition to that."

He will now be available for Forest's next 13 matches and hopes to make his first start against Millwall on Saturday, after four substitute appearances so far.

Jenas, who netted in the 4-1 victory at Barnsley on Saturday, said: "I'm absolutely delighted. It's exactly what I wanted and we've managed to get it done. I made it clear to the manager at the beginning that I wanted to extend the loan if possible.

"The initial month was always going to be tough because it was hard for the manager to fit me in without upsetting the rhythm. He handled it really well - I managed to get some minutes and got a goal at the weekend to top it off.

"There's a real buzz around here. We've got a good bunch of players and the staff are very professional and thorough in what they do. It's clear that everyone has a good attitude, even though the manager has to juggle a lot of very good players. There's a really good team spirit."

Forest are on a five-game unbeaten run that has taken them to seventh in the Championship.
