Premier Showdown - Oct 27-28

A much-needed victory for Dale Johnson last weekend as he just managed to hold off Tommy Smyth to pick up only his second three-point haul of the season. He'll need to double that to get back in front of Tommy. The Rest of the World weren't at the races last time out, and hoping to make sure it's a different story is Emmett McConnell who comes from Middletown in Connecticut, USA. It turns out that Emmett lives just a few miles from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. Small world. He tells us: "I am 19 and a sophomore at Wesleyan University and the goalkeeper of the soccer team. My favourite team is Inter Milan, and I support West Ham United in the Premier League. My friends don't think I have any soccer knowledge and I'm trying to prove them wrong!" Game on!

For each round of matches we invite someone to represent the Rest of the World and take on Press Pass' Tommy Smyth and ESPN journalist Dale Johnson in our predictions game.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the Showdown result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the Rest of the World tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared.

Javier Hernandez's "offside" goal proved the difference as Tommy Smyth edges the round from the ROTW, and he equals the top score of the season to boot.

Table after Round Nine

Final table 2011-12
