Kaka: I never wanted to leave Madrid

Real Madrid star Kaka has claimed that he was not tempted to pursue more regular first-team football elsewhere in the summer and intends to see out his contract with the club.

Kaka, 30, was linked with a move away from Madrid, with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly interested. But he says leaving the Spanish champions was never an option.

"Even when there was lots of talk in the summer I did not think about leaving because I was sure I could bring a lot to Real Madrid," Kaka told Estadao.

"I still have three years left on this contract and I think I can contribute. I want to continue at Real Madrid, earn a place in the team and win titles."

Kaka recently returned to the national team for the first time since the 2010 World Cup, and announced his return in fine fashion, scoring against Japan and Iraq.

"I think those games I had with the Selecao were very good for me," Kaka said. "They made it clear that I am in good shape, playing well and it was important for me personally. This season has been a reaffirmation for me and the recent games have given me confidence."
