Redknapp: Blackburn job not for me

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has rubbished reports linking him with the managerial vacancy at Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers are seeking a new boss following the departure of Steve Kean and Redknapp was swiftly linked with the post.

Reports on Tuesday suggested he was set to travel up to Ewood Park for an interview, but Redknapp has confirmed he has not moved from his South Coast home and is not interested in the Blackburn role.

"I am at home in Poole today, that's for sure," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "I woke up this morning to see the papers that I am supposed to be in Blackburn having interviews for the job and that is a load of nonsense.

"It is a good job and a good job for somebody but it is not a job I am looking to pursue.

"When we saw the speculation my representative Paul Stretford spoke to the people there and wanted to clear up where it was coming from. It is not something I would look to pursue. It is not for me.

"Blackburn is an interesting club, don't get me wrong, it is a club with a good tradition but it is not something that would be for me at this time."

Redknapp, who left Tottenham in the summer, is on the lookout for a return to management - joking that he has been losing too many golf balls.

"You can only play golf so often and my golf is not improving," he said. "The more I am playing the worse I seem to be getting at that.

"I am looking to get back in [to management]. I'll just wait and see what happens. There is no rush and if the right thing came along that was interesting then I would have a go."

Redknapp claims he has rejected offers from abroad but refused to divulge the names of the clubs involved.

He said: "I've had good offers to go abroad. I recently got offered to manage a good club, a club that has been good in Europe for many years. It just was not for me. Until the right one comes up I will sit tight."
