Sakho wants cup success

Paris Saint-Germain defender Mamadou Sakho says his team are determined to challenge for the Coupe de la Ligue this season, ahead of their mouth-watering last-16 tie with Marseille on Wednesday.

• Blog: Matuidi inspires PSG

The Parc des Princes clash is the game of the round, pitting Ligue 1 leaders PSG against third-placed side and winners of the league cup for the past three seasons, Marseille.

Despite a first league title since 1994 being the top of PSG's priorities, Sakho, 22, is adamant the cup is also high up on their wish list.

"This year we are really determined to win something, so the cup and the championship are in our sights," he told the club's official website.

"We are still dreaming of a title but we will really play to win domestic cups too. We will give everything to go as far as possible.

"It will be a game with a lot of intensity. Marseille are a great team of key players, so I expect a good game. It is a Classico, there will be a lot of duels, we will have to be ready.''

Marseille's league fixture with Lyon at the weekend was called off due to bad weather but, while club captain Steve Mandanda rued the postponement of the match, he admits there are benefits, given that they will have had more rest than PSG.

"It's frustrating, we would have preferred to play. We had prepared since Friday," he said.

"Now there is a match ahead on Wednesday. It was a day of rest and we will be able to prepare in the best way possible.''
