Fernandes: There is no Hughes ultimatum

Tony Fernandes has dismissed media speculation that Mark Hughes has one game to save his job as Queens Park Rangers manager.

Fernandes, the QPR owner, took to Twitter to insist that the West London club's hierarchy remain firmly behind the manager, despite his expensively-assembled team being bottom of the Premier League and without a victory.

Rangers have lost six and drawn three of their nine league games so far, and some reports suggested that Hughes would be axed if they fail to beat Reading - who also have yet to win - in their next game at Loftus Road.

The Londoners can count themselves unfortunate to have lost 1-0 at Arsenal on Saturday, and Fernandes tweeted: "Mark has my backing and the shareholders. We need a little luck and no injuries. What's written in the press is all rubbish.

"I honestly believe we have one of the best managers in the Premier League. And we are in for the long term. Whatever happens. We love QPR.

"I'll be there at Reading so, Rangers fans, I'll be available to meet and chat. Trust me on this one. Keep the faith. Stability is the key."

Hughes succeeded Neil Warnock at Loftus Road in January and steered the team to safety on the final day of the season.

The Welshman spent heavily on new players in the summer, but his new-look line-up has yet to convince.
