Fergie fires ref warning

Sir Alex Ferguson has mischievously wished the referee of Wednesday's Capital One Cup clash between Chelsea and Manchester United "good luck".

• Blog: RVP the architect
•  Di Matteo anger at ref
•  Chelsea lodge ref complaint

The sides played out an incident-filled Premier League game on Sunday, with United running out 3-2 winners against nine-man Chelsea who had Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres dismissed in the second-half.

Javier Hernandez scored Man United's winner from an offside position, and post-match Chelsea lodged an official complaint about alleged abusive language used by referee Mark Clattenburg.

With little time for either side to cool off before their next meeting Ferguson has fuelled the flames ahead of what is likely to be another full-blooded meeting by claiming United fully deserved any decisions they received.

"Good luck to the referee! It's always hard to come here and it's hard to get decisions here," he said.

"Over the last few years, there have been some shocking decisions against us and I think everyone knows that. But today, if we did get a little break, I think we deserved it."
