City await news on Richards

Manchester City face a nervy wait over the fitness of Micah Richards after the defender was stretchered off with a knee injury during Saturday's 1-0 win over Swansea.

• Barry: City were below par

Richards collapsed in an off-the-ball incident during the second half, instantly clutching his knee as his night came to a premature end. Oxygen was administered as the defender was helped off after a lengthy hold-up.

As a result of Richards' injury, in addition to a similarly nasty problem for Swansea keeper Michel Vorm, the game eventually became the longest in Premier League history, lasting over 102 minutes.

Mancini revealed the club will wait for news of a scan on Richards, but it looked like the right-back could be out for a while. City travel to West Ham in their next game but then face a must-win Champions League clash with Ajax and a league showdown with Tottenham.

"I'm not sure what Micah has done yet - we think he has a problem with his knee but we won't know until next week," Mancini said on the club's official website. "I obviously hope he will be okay."

Mancini, meanwhile, reserved praise for match-winner Carlos Tevez, whose 30-yard strike lit up a poor City performance. The goal ended the forward's personal drought in the Premier League.

"Carlos played very well against West Brom and again today - he worked very hard and I am very pleased for him," he said. "He scored a good goal at an important time and is a vital player for this team."
