Rivaldo considering retirement

Former Brazil star Rivaldo is contemplating calling time on his playing career after more than two decades in the game.

Rivaldo, 40, made a shock move to Angolan side Kabuscorp earlier this year in what was a major coup for the country's football league.

The veteran attacker - who in 1999 won the Ballon d'Or and was named World Footballer of the Year - has scored 11 goals in 15 appearances this season but may now have played his last game for Kabuscorp as he has picked up an injury that will rule him out of the final games of the campaign. Rivaldo suffered a fall that caused him intense pain in both shoulders and his ribs, and with an extended absence impending, he revealed that he may be ready to call time on a glittering career.

"With this injury, the season is practically over for me in Angola. I have to think if I stop playing or if I continue for another year," he said on Twitter.

Rivaldo starred in Europe, notably during a five-year spell at Barcelona, and won the World Cup with Brazil in Japan and South Korea in 2002.
