Pulis: Jones, Palacios not going on loan

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has no intention of allowing out-of-favour pair Wilson Palacios and Kenwyne Jones to leave the Britannia Stadium on emergency loan.

• A place for Palacios?
• Begovic: Fines not enough to curb racism
• Adam excited by decisive fixtures
• Pulis: I'll end career at Stoke

Championship side Hull have enquired about bringing Palacios to Humberside until the New Year, with the Honduras international having played under Tigers manager Steve Bruce at Wigan and Birmingham.

Jones, too, has been the subject of interest from several second-tier sides but with Pulis is operating with a first-team squad of 24 after allowing Jermaine Pennant move to Wolves on loan until January, he will not sanction any further reductions in his playing options.

He feels Trinidad and Tobago international Jones still has a part to play this season, despite starting only five games this calendar year.

"Kenwyne will not be going anywhere. I haven't seen any other Premier League clubs selling players," Pulis said. "There have been lots of inquiries about lots of players, but at the moment we want to look after ourselves.

"We had 25 in our Premier League squad and then let Jermaine Pennant go on loan to Wolves, so we don't want to be letting others go and then picking up three or four injuries."

In the summer Pulis appeared willing to allow Palacios to move on, because of the midfielder's failure to make an impact at the Britannia Stadium since his £8 million move from Spurs.

In recent weeks, Palacios has struggled with a knee injury, but has made rapid strides of late and he appeared as a late substitute in the defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford, which has prompted Pulis' re-think.

"He's trained really well over the last six weeks and got his levels of fitness up again," Pulis said.

Palacios may well be in the squad again for the weekend visit of Sunderland as Glenn Whelan is "touch and go" to be fit after a recent hamstring injury.
