FA announce 150th anniversary plans

The English FA have announced that England will host five-time world champions Brazil as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Football Association early next year.

England will host Mano Menezes' side at Wembley on February 6 before they tour Brazil in June for a return match.

The FA have also confirmed international friendlies against the Republic of Ireland, on May 29, and Scotland, on August 14, which will both take place at Wembley.

It was also announced that all England national teams will wear a special crest on their shirt, commemorating the Association's milestone. The shirts will be decorated in gold and will feature handwritten laws from the Football Association's foundation year in 1863 behind the crest.

FA Chairman David Bernstein said that 2013 would be a year of celebration and the celebrations announced will showcase the national pride embodied by the Three Lions.

"It is a great honour to be chairman of the Football Association as we head into our 150th year," Bernstein said. "It is incredible to think how the game has developed from that very first meeting at the Freemasons' Tavern in October 1863.

"Those founding fathers had real foresight to bring order and organisation to the game. Still, despite their sporting values and vision, no one could have foreseen what football would come to mean for the nation."
