Stramaccioni receives Inter duo praise

Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti and President Massimo Moratti have both backed manager Andrea Stramaccioni as the right man to lead the club to the top.

Despite a slow start to their Serie A campaign that saw home defeats to Roma and Siena, Inter have started to come into real form, winning their last four games and climbing up to fourth in the table.

Stramaccioni, 36, entered into management at the top level for the first time when he took over from the sacked Claudio Ranieri last season and Zanetti, 39, is adamant that the rookie is the perfect choice for the role regardless of his lack of experience.

"Stramaccioni has very clear ideas of how he wants us to play," he said. "With him we hope to reach the very top."

The ambition to climb higher still up the table was echoed by Moratti who is quietly confident that the club can challenge for the title.

"Are we Juve's main challengers? We're just focused on ourselves," he said. "Saying that, of course we'd love to challenge for the title, we naturally want to perform well and I feel that we're improving with every match we play.

"I like the fact we've found consistency and we're able to make tactical switches during games to adapt to our opponents, so we can best counter their strengths. This is the most positive aspect, along with the unity between the coach and the players. We've got great team spirit."

Zanetti also went on to praise the unity in the team at the moment while singling out fellow Argentinian Ricky Alvarez for praise, stating his belief that the he will become a key figure for the Milanese giants.

"There is an awareness that the team has all the means to do well, we want to finish as high as possible but we will have to see what happens," he said. "Our intention is to continue to grow as a group, and as a team. We are slowly rising up the table and playing very well.

"Alvarez played very well against Catania, and it was only because of bad luck he didn't score. He has done everything the coach has asked of him, and learned how to play in Italy. He will certainly be one of our main players in the future."
