Trezeguet has no plans to retire

Former France international striker David Trezeguet, now playing for River Plate in Argentina, says he has no plans to hang up his boots any time soon.

Trezeguet, 34, is preparing for a match against River Plate's biggest rivals, Boca Juniors, and told the FIFA website he was "taking much pleasure in doing my job".

The former Juventus striker played for France until 2008 and scored the golden goal that won the Euro 2000 final against Italy.

He said: "There are those who stop to because they want to be remembered at their best, and others who stop due to injury.

"There are also those who realise one day that the desire to train or play is no longer there. When I have that feeling, the time will come to stop."

He also spoke about France and coach Didier Deschamps, who was a team-mate as the French won the 1998 World Cup, saying he believed the coach would succeed as the replacement for Laurent Blanc, another old international colleague.

"They are both great coaches and fully understand football," he added. "Obviously, I do not know what happens internally, but Blanc decided to retire and was replaced.

"I hope that France will qualify for the next World Cup and will continue to grow, because there is a very good basis to make things interesting."
