Bonucci: I am not a hero

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci insists he is "not a hero" despite punching an armed mugger late last week.

The 25-year-old was commenting on an incident which took place outside a Ferrari dealership on Thursday and saw a man approach him, his wife and infant son, demanding the player hand over his watch.

Instead, as the would-be-thief was distracted, Bonucci hit him in the face, knocking him to the ground before giving chase as he attempted to flee. After reporting the incident to the police, the Italian international wrote on his Facebook page: "A few days ago an unpleasant incident occurred. I am not a hero, but I simply found myself in the wrong situation at the wrong time.

"It all happened in a matter of seconds and it came from an instinctive reaction and certainly not an attempt to emulate the superheroes you see at the cinema."
