PSG fears hooligans will make Croatia trip

Paris St Germain has warned Croatian authorities that about 100 hooligans are rumored to be traveling to the country for Wednesday's Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb.

The French club confirmed in a statement Sunday it has made authorities in Croatia aware of "persistent rumors that 100 individuals recognized as dangerous will travel independently to Zagreb for this match, which has been classified as high risk by UEFA."

PSG has decided not to put on official trips for fans or even sell any tickets for the Group A match because of security concerns.

A statement on the club's official website said: "Paris St Germain have alerted the Croatian authorities about the threat. The club wants everything to be done to avoid incidents during the game."

The club asked those fans tempted to travel not to do so.

Hooliganism was rife among a section of hardcore PSG supporters from 1985 to 2010. Dinamo Zagreb has a notorious hooligan element known as "BBB'' (Bad Blue Boys).

Information from Press Association and The Associated Press was used in this report.
