Alessandro Del Piero has secured Sydney FC's first win of the season as the Sky Blues defeated A-League newcomers Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0.
Del Piero scored his second goal in as many games after earning a penalty in the 54th minute thanks to a clumsy challenge from Aaron Mooy.
The 37-year-old was ordered to retake his first successful penalty and despite Wanderers goalkeeper Ante Covic saving the second attempt, Del Piero cooly slotted the rebound to give his side the advantage.
Sydney now trade places with Western Sydney who are winless and goalless at the bottom of the A-League ladder after three matches.
Elsewhere, Emile Heskey's Newcastle Jets defeatedCentral Coast Mariners 2-1 to move joint top with Adelaide United.
After opening his scoring account against Sydney last week, Heskey netted what proved to be the winner for Newcastle in the 62nd minute.
The marquee signing had a hand in the Jets' opener, earning a penalty in the fourth minute after being brought down by Michael McGlinchey.
Ryan Griffiths scored from the spot and the home side struggled to hold onto their lead until Heskey finished off a terrific run by youngster James Virgili to give Newcastle a 2-0 lead.
Bernie Ibini scored a consolation goal for the Mariners who suffered defeat for the first time this season.
