Lyon playmaker Yoann Gourcuff looks set to make his return from injury for the clash with Marseille next weekend.
Gourcuff, 26, tore a ligament in his knee just six minutes into Lyon's Ligue 1 game against Troyes on August 20.
The midfielder was a standout performer during Lyon's pre-season campaign and although he was expected to be out of action for up to three months, coach Remi Garde is optimistic that Gourcuff will feature in Lyon's meeting with the league leaders on October 28.
"He is [back to training] a little early, in advance," Garde said. "We have won time. He is fearless, I feel he's back as we left him. But it is only [against] opposition that we can get an idea of a comeback."
Gourcuff's recovery couldn't have come at a better time for Garde after Clement Grenier suffered a thigh injury while on international duty for France's Under-21's side this week.
