Ambrosini: I never thought of leaving Milan

AC Milan skipper Massimo Ambrosini insists he never considered leaving the Serie A giants over the summer.

• De Sciglio - the next Maldini?

Ambrosini, 35, remained with the Rossoneri for this season despite the departure of fellow veterans Gianluca Zambrotta, Alessandro Nesta, Gennaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi.

Though Milan have taken just seven points from as many games to start the campaign, Ambrosini maintains his commitment to the club has never waned.

"Leaving the club never entered my head," he told the club's official website. "In fact it was my heart that ruled my head, even though I knew it would be somewhat of a different season ahead. I knew we would have difficulties but what makes life so wonderful is dealing with problems.

"The structure within the club promotes a sense of belonging. I cannot say what it is like at other clubs, but all I know is that everyone who has played here has said that there is a family atmosphere. All I can say is that as a club Milan are very well organised in every area."

The midfielder's current contract with AC Milan expires in June 2013.
