Herrmann rejects Spurs speculation

Borussia Moenchengladbach winger Patrick Herrmann has labelled a possible move away from The Foals as "rumours" and told Rheinische Post he has no intention of leaving the club.

•  Gladbach rule out sales

Recent reports have linked the 21-year-old to Inter Milan and Tottenham, with suggestions that both clubs are willing to pay between €7 million and €10 million for his services. "I have heard about that. I read papers," Herrmann said. "Of course, those sums are somewhat flattering but to be honest. You don't have to overrate it. My agents did not tell me anything about it. That's just rumours."

Confronted with the story the club's director of football Max Eberl strictly ruled out any possibility of a move, and the Gladbach starlet agreed with this stance, adding: "I am happy about the praise. But why should I leave now? I feel great here. And the last season was great fun, we played beautiful football. We want to return to that now – and are on the right path"

Herrmann, who already has 70 league matches to his name, also played down his interest in moving away from Germany anytime soon. "Why should I? We have an outstanding league here," he said. "Bundesliga does not have to hide from any other league abroad. Besides, I don't speak English or Italian. It would be difficult for me. I learned French in school."

Last year's Bundesliga surprise package have had a stuttering start to their league campaign this time around, picking up nine points in seven matches, and did not qualify for the Champions League after losing out to Dinamo Kiev in the qualifiers, but Herrmann insists Gladbach are not feeling the pressure.

"The pressure is put on us from the outside," he said. "It is not like a win or a loss in Bremen will decide our fate for the rest of the season. Certainly, we want to win. But huge pressure is something different."
