Moratti: Inter don't need Guardiola

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has attempted to explain his comparison between Jose Mourinho and Andrea Stramaccioni.

• Blog: Inter's midfield options
• Blog: Stramaccioni - Mourinho the second?

Moratti likened his current coach to Mourinho, a man who enjoyed unprecedented success during his stint at the San Siro, and he even added that, although AC Milan are pursuing former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, he has no need to follow suit as he is content with the job Stramaccioni is doing.

"I made the comparison based on dedication to work, because that is very important for any professional," Moratti said. "Some people are distracted by publicity and popularity but he has this dedication within him and if he can have the same results as Mourinho, well then... Milan want Pep Guardiola but I've already got a great coach."

Moratti is also hopeful that Javier Zanetti, a veteran of over 500 appearances for Inter, will become a club director upon his retirement from football.

"Zanetti is a fantastic lad and his future will be written by him, in the sense that he has constructed for himself a future as a director," he added. "That is assuming he'll stop playing football at some point!"

And on the chances of toppling Juventus at the top of Serie A, Moratti remains hopeful. Inter lie fourth, just four points off the league's summit. He said: "I really believe in the Scudetto and I have to because that way the players will believe too!"
