Be confident, Deschamps tells France

France coach Didier Deschamps has urged his players to be ''convincing and confident'' when they take on Spain in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Deschamps wants France to show no fear against the world and European champions, and has told them to forget the 1-0 home friendly defeat to Japan on Friday - his first loss as the national coach.

Despite Spain's presence, he is targeting top spot in Group I. Vicente del Bosque's side currently lead the table on goal difference, with both nations having won their two games so far.

"Spain are the best team in the world," Deschamps said. "Our chance of winning is not high, but I believe in us and so do the players.

"We'll need to be efficient, because we won't have as many chances as last Friday against Japan. This will be difficult, for sure, but it is up to us to be convincing and confident to bring about success."

Both Patrice Evra and Yohan Cabaye should be fit for the game, Deschamps said, while Franck Ribery, on the bench against Japan, will be back in the starting line-up.

"I'll be at 100% against Spain. I want to be decisive, give good passes, score," Ribery said. "But Spain are the best team. It will be hard.

"We need to be united, positive, play our game and be solid in defence. We'll have to play our counter-attacks perfectly."
