Nocerino: Pato one of world's best

AC Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino believes team-mate Alexandre Pato is among "the top three of four best strikers in the world".

• Blog: Not so fresh Prince

Pato, 23, was considered one of the hottest up and coming talents in world football when he signed for Milan from Internacional in 2008 for a fee of nearly €24 million.

However, the striker has struggled to live up to his true potential after being hampered with injuries since joining the club - his latest injury, a strained adductor, is his 16th different one since arriving at the San Siro.

But Nocerno, 27, believes the Brazil international is up there with the world's best when he is fit and hopes the player can return back to action soon.

"I wish Pato a full year of health. When fit he is amongst the top three of four best strikers in the world," he told Milan's television channel.

The former Juventus player also puts his own apparent dip in form down to fitness problems.

"This year I have had a difficult start as, because of the European Championship, I did not do the necessary summer preparation," he said.

The Rossoneri have had a troubled campaign so far this season, sitting 11th in Serie A with only two wins from seven games.

Nocerino though, believes the squad need to stay calm especially in light of their loss to rivals Inter Milan in last week's derby.

"This next week should be used to recharge the batteries both physically and mentally," he said. "Against Inter we lost a bad game, and I'm always sad to lose a derby, but we must remain calm ahead of the upcoming games."

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting on Friday morning that Silvio Berlusconi is prepared to sell a 30% stake in the club to the same Arab family who control Paris Saint-Germain.

The club President is reportedly considering a potential €250 million investment from the Al Thani family, who rule Qatar.
